As of May 29, 2025, all travelers to the Galápagos Islands are required to pre-register the Transit Control Card (TCT) via CGREG’s official online platform. This new online registration step is mandatory and replaces the previous option of completing the TCT directly at the airport.
However, visitors must still visit the CGREG counter at the departure airports in Quito or Guayaquil to present the card (either printed or digital), along with valid identification and a round-trip ticket to the Galápagos. Completing the TCT online does not eliminate this airport check.
Here’s what travelers need to prepare:
Access the official CGREG TCT online form in advance (passport/ID, flight info, lodging, etc.).
After registering online, download or save a digital copy of the TCT, or print it.
On travel day, go to the CGREG counter at the airport (Quito or Guayaquil), present the TCT, your passport/ID, and your round-trip ticket.
This is part of Galápagos’ broader push toward digitalization to reduce queues, improve visitor management, and strengthen biosecurity. The airport counter remains in place — authorities have not announced any intentions of removing that option.
