About the Founder

I’m Christian Greiner, originally from Bavaria, Germany, and the founder of Terra Sur Travels, an independent travel agency based in Quito, Ecuador.

My love for traveling began long before I started my own travel business. In 2002, I made my first journey to Latin America, and what began as an adventure soon became a lifelong passion. Since then, I’ve explored every country in the region, discovering remarkable landscapes, fascinating cultures, and places far beyond the usual tourist routes.

I’ve also traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Oceania. But Latin America always drew me back. In 2018, I finally decided to make Quito my permanent home.

What I enjoy most about traveling isn’t simply visiting famous attractions. It’s discovering places that surprise me, meeting people along the way, and experiencing the everyday life of a destination. Some of my most memorable journeys have taken me to remote villages, mountain trails, and regions rarely visited by international travelers.

Eventually, I turned that passion and experience into Terra Sur Travels.

Today, I personally create private, tailor-made journeys through Ecuador, the Galápagos Islands, Colombia, Peru, Costa Rica, and Chile. My goal is simple: to help travelers discover these extraordinary destinations at their own pace, with thoughtful planning, local knowledge, and a genuine sense of adventure.

How I Create Your Journey

Every journey starts with a conversation. I want to understand what excites you, how you like to travel, and what kind of experiences you’re looking for.

Rather than offering standard packages, I design individual itineraries based on your interests, preferred pace, and travel style. Drawing on my own experiences and a network of trusted local partners, I bring together destinations, accommodations, guides, and activities that fit your expectations.

I’m personally involved in the planning process, from your first inquiry to the final itinerary. My aim is to make travel easier, more personal, and ultimately more rewarding.

After all, the best journeys aren’t necessarily the ones where you see the most. They’re the ones you remember the longest.

 Verified Terra Sur Travels is great
I was introduced to Terra Sur Travels Quito via Galapagos Shark Diving. Interacting was Christian was a pleasure. He was very patient & took the time to understand my travel goals. He refined my initiative itinerary with his local knowledge. He is always available for questions & very prompt in responding. He is exceptionally prompt during the travel period. In Puerto Ayora, there was a mixup with the days excursion. He immediately started working the phone & rebooked me for the same excursion with another company.  Verified Ecuador - The perfect blend of hiking, nature, and wildlife!
The Planning and organizing of the trip and the lot of activities was amazing, because every day was a highlight and it built up from one highlight to the next! The Hotels were good chosen, because the staff was very friendly, the rooms were very clean and the breakfast was very good (especially the Casa Aliso Boutique Hotel in Quito, The Wanderlot in Riobamba, Nici Amazon Lodge, Los Balcones Cuenca). We are so happy that Christian recommended the Horse Riding at Cotopaxi. It was wonderful, even if it was exhausting (Don't underestimate horseback riding—it's a sport, too! 😉 For nature loving people the perfect thing to enjoy the nature around Cotopaxi. The Inca Trail Ecuaodor is definitely a must do for hikers, it was amazing to be almost alone out there. Just us, along with our guide and cook—all in one—the gauchos with their mules, a horse, and the dogs - we hiked along the inca path through the Inca ruins. To learn something new about adventure and animals , the amazon (Cuyabeno) and the Galapagos Islands are definitively the best choice. We were always in good hands with Christitan and Terra Sur Travels and we warmly recommend Terra Sur Travels for Travel enthusiast.  Verified Beautiful trip with an unfortunate accident
We had an absolutely excellent trip to Ecuador, and I’m very happy to share our experience. The tours in the Andes near Riobambaa were breathtaking, and the Galapagos tours were just as incredible and well organized. Unfortunately, I had an accident during our time in the Galápagos and couldn’t participate in one of the planned day tours. I didn’t contact Terra Sur Travels right away and my phone was off, but they immediately stepped in, contacted people across the island to find out what had happened, and arranged for the hotel staff to bring me the proper medicine and food directly to my room. Without their fast and thoughtful support, the situation could have been much worse. Although we couldn’t complete the final tour because of my injury, Christian’s care and dedication were truly outstanding. We felt supported the entire time. Thank you again for everything. This was a crazy and unforgettable trip, and we definitely hope to come back when time allows.

 Verified Ecuador Traumreise
Eine Reise mit Terra Sur Travels zu planen kann ich nur empfehlen. Christian plante für uns eine top individuelle Reise nach unseren Wünschen. Und konnte uns sehr gute zusätzliche Tipps und Empfehlungen geben , die wir sonst so nicht auf den Schirm gehabt hätten. Unsere Tour begann in Quito und Umgebung , weiter in den Amazonas danach in die Anden auf den Inca Trek nach Ingapirca und zum Abschluss ging es mit einer Kreuzfahrt zu den Galapagos Inseln , das wahr wirklich traumhaft. Fazit Ecuador unbedingt besuchen und mit Terra Sur Travels macht ihr alles richtig. Danke dir nochmal Christian für die tolle Reise die du für uns geplant hast.  Verified Highly recommended!! Terra Sur Travels
I cannot recommend Terra Sur Travels enough! From start to finish, our trip to the Galápagos was flawlessly planned, and everything worked like a dream. Christian was an absolute star—quick to respond, incredibly reliable, and so accommodating. We were already booking very late, less than 3 weeks before we wanted to travel. On top of that we had a few last-minute requests, and he made them happen effortlessly. That kind of service is rare, and it made all the difference! Our 6-day cruise in the Galápagos was breathtaking. The yacht, the excursions, the guides—everything exceeded our expectations. On top of that, Terra Sur Travels arranged all our domestic flights, making transfers smooth and stress-free. After the cruise, we spent extra time on Santa Cruz Island, where Christian had planned a perfect itinerary for us. From exploring the highlands to relaxing at stunning beaches, everything was seamlessly organized. This was hands down one of the best trips I’ve ever taken, and I owe it all to Terra Sur Travels.  Verified Ecuador & Galapagos Explorations
Christian developed a 1 month itinerary for the 2 of us after discussing with us what our interests were. We spent 2 weeks in Ecuador (Quito, Cotopaxia, Amazon & Mindo Cloud Forest) & 2 weeks on a boat travelling between the Galapagos Islands. All arrangements (transport, tours & accommodation) worked seamlessly. It was a fabulous trip & Christian's itinerary reflected our interests & fitness levels.  Verified An unforgettable Ecuador experience, from pink river dolphins to the land of the Condor and joining hammerhead sharks
We had an excellent trip from the first to the last minute. The trip planning was done very personally to meet all our wishes and includied Amazonia, Quito and surroundings, Galapagos and Cuenca area.  Verified A Fantastic Family Trip to Ecuador
When I emailed Terra Sur for some help with our trip to Ecuador, I had some of the basics figured out, but Angelica brought in all the amazing extras and experiences that made our trip truly memorable. My husband and I were traveling with our two children, who are 8 and 10, and Angelica considered their interests. She helped us craft a trip that worked for our family, and she included suggestions for those days when we were on our own. On the days that involved guided experiences, all the guides and drivers we met and learned from were fantastic, extremely knowledgeable, and generally excellent at what they do.  Verified Our 2nd trip with TerraSur - and propably not the last one!
After an incredible trip through Colombia with TerraSur, we traveled through Ecuador this time. We wanted to see the highlands, the Amazon rainforest and the Galapagos Islands and do all sorts of activities there. Christian with his experience put together the perfect itinerary for us based on our wishes and we already knew from our trip to Colombia that we could now arrive relaxed and just look forward to the experiences ahead! During our trip, Angelica was always there for us in all matters and even when unforeseeable events occurred, such as the closure of an island due to bird flu, she always suggested and arranged an ideal alternative for us. It's simply great to know that someone is so dedicated to taking care of all your needs during a trip and is always there for you, offering the best solution and support in the event of anything unexpected.. as if they were part of the travel group themselves!
