This Wildlife Colombia Tour is an exceptional treat for wildlife and nature photographers looking to capture an outstanding palette of wildlife and dream-like natural sceneries, as well as for intrepid travelers looking to get entirely off the beaten path and uncover one of Colombia’s last wild frontiers on an epic wild bush adventure.
The journey takes you from Yopal to one of the Llanos‘ most beautiful – and most remote – spots: the collective of the Altagracia nature reserves.
Located far out in the Llanos close to tributary rivers of the Orinoco River, these private nature reserves host some of the Llanos’ finest wildlife: jabiru storks, giant otters, anacondas, scarlet ibises, jaguars, anteaters, and flocks of hundreds of Orinoco geese and black skimmers before the extraordinary sceneries of towering Moriche palm trees that dot extensive wetlands and lakes.
Beware: the trip to the reserve takes around 7 bumpy hours by car from Yopal, mostly off road!

Before 10 A.M.
From Yopal, you drive to the remote reserves of Altagracia in the east of Casanare. On the approximately seven-hour drive, you keep your eyes open for animals. – Lunch snacks included.
Once at the reserve, you stretch your legs on a short evening walk, exploring the surroundings, the landscape, and the wildlife.
Dinner & basic accommodation in the reserve.
You embark on a sunrise game drive and walk to search for wildlife.
After breakfast, back at the house, you hike to look for wildlife, such as anacondas, until lunch.
You spend the afternoon game driving and enjoying the sceneries and different species of birds.
You finish with a spectacular view of the lake and Moriche palm trees at sunset as hundreds of birds arrive to roost.
After an early breakfast, you set off for a neighboring farm. The drive takes you through dreamy savannah landscapes and groups of deer.
At the farm, you can go on extensive tropical forest walks along the river where, with a bit of luck, you spot giant otters. Wire-tailed manakins and other bird species should delight ornithologists along the way.
Back at your accommodation, lunch and a break await you before you set off in the late afternoon for an idyllic canoe trip across the large wetlands’ lake (depending on water levels – otherwise, you’ll walk along the lake) – to photograph flocks of scarlet ibises, herons, and Orinoco geese.
Return to the house via a dawn drive to spot wild dogs and anteaters, then dinner.
On a more extended stay, you repeat some of the activities of the previous two days, although in different areas of the Altagracia reserves.
On your last day of the expedition, after breakfast and a final walk, you return to Yopal, where you spend the night at a lovely 3* hotel.
Dinner is included.
Breakfast at the hotel & transfer to the airport.

Christian and Angelica put together an unforgettable trip for us. They have made the rather impossible possible and designed a program in which we in our unfortunately quite limited time were not only able to experience the wonderful landscapes of Colombia, but above all to get a little insight into the country and its people. They took us to places we certainly wouldn’t have travelled to on ourselves – because they just knew it was worth the effort! Christian was available for all our questions during trip preparation and the trip itself, so we really felt in good hands at all times and it was just relaxing to know that you can rely on everything being perfectly organized. The TerraSur team took great care to re-arrange our transports when the airline changed flights on short notice or their travellers had special requests…
