This is a great motorcycle ride all along. Although you start and end in Quito, Ecuador’s capital, the clear focus is riding along the pacific coast south to north.

Stunning coastal roads, great food and secluded beaches are the highlights of this trip.

Day 1: Transfer In - Quito

Your flight will arrive at Quito Airport today. Your driver awaits you at the airport and he will bring you to your hotel in town. Make sure to arrive around noon, so you have a few hours to stroll around Quito for a bit.

Day 2: 434 km. Quito - Riobamba - Guayaquil

Today your adventure starts! You will meet with our crew in Quito in the morning. After a short briefing on road and bike safety, you fill out some final paperwork. Then, finally, the bike you chose and equipment will be handed over to you and tested thoroughly. Now it's time to hit the road! Throughout the morning you will ride south in the middle of the Andes until you reach Riobamba. From there, you turn west to Guayaquil, Ecuador’s most important city on the Pacific Coast. Here, your hotel will be waiting for you, and of course, we will give you recommendations for great local eateries.

Day 3: 226 km. Guayaquil - Salinas - Montañita

Today, when you wake up you will already feel the warm pacific breeze while having breakfast. The great and scenic Spondylus route takes you north, you have the chance to visit a chocolate manufacturer and see mummies that date back 6000 years, from long-extinct cultures that once populated the coast. Try to reach Montañita early, so you can enjoy the town in the afternoon already. From your hotel in the middle of town, head to the beach and take a surf lesson in the Pacific waves. Montañita is famous for its nightlife, so go ahead and hit the bars and clubs all along the beachfront after dinner. Again, many options will be given for the best seafood place around.

Day 4: 45 km. Montañita - Puerto Lopez

A short ride to Puerto Lopez is on today's schedule. You have the entire day exploring the area by bike or on foot, hanging out at the beaches or enjoying a drink or two. Your ecolodge for tonight is somewhat special since every room is differently themed by a Swiss/Italian artist over the last 20 years. This is also a great place for you to have dinner tonight.

Day 5: Puerto Lopez - Isla de la Plata - Puerto Lopez

Get ready for an amazing trip today! You will head to the port and take a boat to Isla de la Plata, 50 km off the coast of Ecuador. This island shares a lot of the endemic wildlife that also the Galapagos Islands have to offer, from blue-footed boobies to sea turtles, from tortoises to sea lions. An English-speaking guide will take you on a hike, explaining to you everything you need to know about this secluded animal paradise.

Day 6: 110km. Puerto López - Manta

Today, you get on your bike again and head further north. Your first stop is in Montecristi, a small town known for 2 things: The crib of Eloy Alfaro, one of the most important figures in Ecuador’s history, and the ‘Paja Toquilla’ hats, widely known as Panama hats, which is obviously wrong. They range in prizes from 25$ for some basic headgear to an incredible 15000$ for the top-notch luxury version.

Day 7: 282 km. Manta - Mompiche

You will have a delightful breakfast this morning before you once again hit the road and continue up the coast to Pedernales, a small town that was hit hard by a 7.8 earthquake in 2016. Here, you have the chance to learn first-hand how the city is trying to deal with the consequences and how the people are trying to recover. After lunch, head on to Mompiche in Esmeraldas, the last province before the Colombian border. Here, the black sand beaches are some of the best in the country. Mompiche is best known for its nightlife, but it is also frequented by people who seek relaxing days on the coast. You will stay a bit south of town, and the infrastructure is minimal, so it will be quiet at night, nevertheless, it’s an easy walk to the beach and a quick ride to hit the bars.

Day 8: 275 km. Mompiche - Mindo

Today is the day to say goodbye to the coast, but not before taking an amazing picture with your crew and all the bikes and the beach behind you. Your ride to the east will be a great one through different climates, landscapes and all the way up to the incredibly diverse cloud forest of Ecuador. Hundreds of different species of birds live up here, especially the iconic hummingbird with a stunning 140 species alone in this country. In Mindo you will stay at a first-class eco-lodge and have enough time in the afternoon to visit a chocolate manufacturer, see a butterfly farm, or take a quick taxi ride to do some ziplining, which we can absolutely recommend. In the evening, enjoy a lovely dinner at your lodge and later walk to town and one of its laid back bars to give the evening a perfect closure.

Day 9: 98 km. Mindo - Quito

After a hearty breakfast, get ready for the last leg of your amazing trip. You climb up higher into the Andes, leaving the cloud forest to Quito, but not before taking a break at Mitad del Mundo, the official Equator monument in the north of the capital, a great last picture opportunity! Upon arrival in Quito, where your trip once began, enjoy a cold beer and share stories while handing back your bike. Later today, you will be brought to your hotel in Quito. If you have enough energy, go out and enjoy Quito’s nightlife around town, where many bars and clubs are waiting for you. Or, just relax and let your thoughts and memories of this amazing trip drift away into the distance.

Day 10: Quito - Farewell

Today, after breakfast, your driver awaits you on the way back to Quito Airport, where you can catch your flight back home. But!!! Your trip doesn’t have to end here! Check with us for more exciting adventures in Ecuador, Peru, Colombia or the Galapagos Islands. We are more than happy to help in any way!
