Day 1: Arrival in Quito

Your flight will arrive in Quito Airport today. Your driver awaits you at the airport and he will bring you to your hotel in town. Make sure to arrive around noon, so you have a few hours to stroll around Quito for a bit.

Day 2: 173 km. Quito - Alluriquin

Today your adventure starts! You will meet with our crew in Quito in the morning. After a short briefing on road and bike safety you fill out some final paperwork. Then, finally, the bike you chose and equipment will be handed over to you and tested thoroughly. Now it's time to hit the road! You will cross the city of Quito with all its contrasts, and leave asphalt roads behind. You see the city from above while riding through colorful villages, slowly leaving populated areas behind. The weather starts changing, from the mountain climate to a warmer climate that’s typical for the cloud forest. You take a little break and refresh yourself at a nearby waterfall. Later you follow a river more or less all the way to your first accommodation, where you arrive around noon. After lunch, relax a bit in the pool or take a short ride to Diablo de Tandapi, a sculpture of ‘brutal power’ carved in a rock, and learn a little bit about its history. After a long, finally enjoy dinner and a well-deserved rest.

Day 3: 201 km. Alluriquin - Quilotoa

You start your day early with a breakfast at the river! Our ride leads us today to the fascinating lagoon of Quilotoa, high up in the Andes. You will start your trip on a dirt road, a little technical but full of fun and adrenaline. You pass by small villages and cornfields until you reach the village San Francisco de las Pampas, where you get the chance to stroll around town and its open air market. You continue your way, ascending to a cloud forest with loads of vegetation, animals, and water streams. Soon, you will check in to your hotel in Sigchos, a town at Quilotoa’s base and in the middle of nowhere. This area, as remote as it gets, might be the burial grounds of Atahualpa, the last Incan emperor, suggest scientists. Yet, his remains haven’t been discovered so far. Later you take a ride to the highest part of your trip, the rim of the Quilotoa lagoon at 3914m. Alternatively, you can change the visit to the next day and visit an artisanal cheese factory near Sigchos instead.

Day 4: 140 km. Quilotoa - Quevedo

Today in the morning, it’s either Quilotoa-time or we directly hit the road. Through constantly changing landscapes, besides potato, pea, or quinoa fields and crossing towns like Zumbahua or Pilaló you make your way to Maná valley, a place full of myths and stories, abandoned gold mines and waterfalls. Here, you will have lunch and continue in the afternoon on your way to Quevedo, where your hotel awaits you. Now it’s time for rest and an early night to be ready for tomorrow.

Day 5: 220 km. Quevedo - Chone

It’s time for a long off-road part! In the morning, you pass a river part of the Daule Peripa dam by ferry. Surrounded by water, on a rocky road besides banana and coffee plantations and across a floating bridge, up and down through the landscapes, this is a truly amazing part of your trip. Also, you will have time to stop, take pictures or talk to the locals who are always fascinated and interested in the bikes, drivers and their stories. Upon arrival in Chone, you check in to your hotel, have dinner and wander around town.

Day 6: 256 km. Chone - Mompiche

Today, you will hit the road, heading up north, where in the town of Eloy Alfaro, you make your first stop after around an hour. The region is famous for its rodeos, which originate from cattle farming at the haciendas, as well as many religious and pagan mixed festivities. The Manabi region is also an archeological hotspot, many discoveries about pre-columbian cultures have been made here. Have a quick coffee ice cream in a town called Convento, before hitting a dirt road towards the beach. Lunch in Pedernales, and a paved road follows, as you continue along the coast to Mompiche. Enjoy your evening with a delicious dinner, and let your bones relax in the hotel pool.

Day 7: Mompiche

This day is entirely dedicated to relaxation in and around Mompiche, which offers some of the best beaches in Ecuador. Go to Portete Beach or Playa Negra, have a swim, snorkel, hike a bit up and down or take a surf lesson. It’s up to you!

Day 8: 325 km. Mompiche - Mindo

Today is the longest stretch on the road. This is mostly asphalt, so it’s less strenuous for your butt, but still quite a long way to go. You will say goodbye to the ocean and travel through various landscapes and climates up to the most famous town in the cloud forest, Mindo. You arrive early in an eco-lodge, and can head out to a restaurant in town for lunch. We can absolutely recommend Pizzeria El Tigrillo, which might be a welcoming change to the seafood the days before. In the afternoon, stroll around town, check out a waterfall, do some cool ziplining or get to know how artisanal chocolate is made. In the evening, dinner is waiting for you in your lodge.

Day 9: 110 km. Mindo - Quito

This is the last leg of your motorcycle trip. You leave Mindo after breakfast and go to a butterfly farm nearby. You will learn about the evolution and vast varieties of these tiny animals before riding the winded roads out of the cloud forest and up into the high altitudes of the Andes. Take a break in Nono, where you can feed the most iconic bird of Quito, the hummingbird directly out of your hands. Upon returning to Quito, where your trip once began, enjoy a cold beer and share stories while returning your bike. Later today, you will be brought to your hotel in Quito. If you have enough energy, go out and enjoy Quito’s nightlife around town, where many bars and clubs are waiting for you. Or, just relax and let your thoughts and memories of this amazing trip drift away into the distance.

Day 10: Quito - Farewell

Today, after breakfast, your driver awaits you for the way back to Quito Airport, where you can catch your flight back home. But!!! Your trip doesn’t have to end here! Check with us for more exciting adventures in Ecuador, Peru, Colombia or the Galapagos islands.
