Day 1: Welcome to El Yopal

Our staff will welcome you at El Yopal’s airport ‘El Alcaraván’ and take you to a restaurant where you will have a hearty local breakfast. Before leaving Yopal, you have time to visit a hat factory in town. Then it’s time to hit the road and drive approximately 2 hours to your lodge, crossing vast landscapes with herds of capybaras and deer, among others. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a great lunch. The afternoon is dedicated to a great safari through the natural reserve and its ecosystems. The evening is marked by spectacular sundown and a little surprise by the staff. Before returning to your lodge, you will look out for nocturnal animals.

Day 2: Being a Cowboy

Today, your day is packed with great experiences! A canoe trip and hiking are among them. Horseback riding can be organized with a nearby hacienda upon request as an additional service. Looking for and observing the most emblematic animals of the plains is always our goal. You will learn about the cowboys' work and culture. In the evening, a torchlight dinner will be served, under the stars, accompanied by anecdotes, stories and songs of the llaneros.

Day 3: Farewell

You will have an outdoor breakfast this morning. On a 90 minute drive to Rancho Llanerazo, you will have a quick stop in the little town of San Luis de Palenque and its beautiful park. At the ranch, you will be greeted by an award-winning llanero, Seudiel Gualteros, nicknamed Seco. With him, you will do different activities, in spectacular landscapes around his house at the banks of the Pauto River. You will learn about the typical daily work of the cowboys as well as chocolate production, from growing and harvesting the cocoa to the manufacturing process. A typical lunch will be served near the river where you can spot animals passing by. In the afternoon, you will take your jeep back to El Yopal, where you can either fly out at night or have a stroll around town and spend the night here in a hotel.
