I can only echo what the other reviewers said: Very responsive, very knowledgeable and really working hard to make all arrangements in the background for a stress-less travel experience. That means that all transfers were prebooked and on time, wherever we stayed the staff was informed about details and needs. Also, throughout or journey, Terra Sur was available.
Angelica and Christian love what they do and care for the environment- that shows and makes a difference. They are definitely my no.1 recommendation in Ecuador!

    • star rating  Christian @ Terra Sur Travels put together an amazing trip to Ecuador for me!

Prior to engaging Terra Sur Travels, I was a bit nervous about traveling alone... read more to a new country during a pandemic, but I was in great hands with this concierge tour/travel agency. I provided them with a very loose overview of some of the sights I'd like to see and my target budget. They were able to put together a detailed itinerary along with suggestions that I wouldn't have discovered via my own research. All told, it was an amazing trip of a lifetime - which wouldn't have been the case without them. From the time I arrived late at night at Quito airport until the moment I arrived home 16 days later, I was in great hands.

For example, I took several flights during my trip and was escorted by a personally appointed driver through an oft-confusing airport check-in process (due to covid, Galapagos regulations, luggage scanning, customs, etc.) My drivers waited until I went through the security gates to ensure a completely smooth process each time.

Each morning, my guide arrived on time to pick me up and take me on a private, one-to-one tour of the cities on my itinerary. I had 4 very different and very capable guides during my trip - Guillermo, Sebastien, Christian (aka Christian 2) and Daniel. Their collective knowledge of the country's history, culture, architecture, nature, art, etc. was amazing, and I enjoyed every minute I spent with them. I avoided the crowded & noisy bus scene and possible exposure to Covid in the process. I found them very flexible in terms of making last minute changes to my itinerary, sometimes asking them to help me find breakfast, specific chocolate bars, ATMs/banks, etc. They even managed to put together a tour the morning of my departure to explore the wonderful murals throughout the city of Quito. No request went unanswered.

During one part of my trip, I came down with a 2-3 day bout with altitude sickness which left me bed-ridden --- and I had to cancel my plans. It kinda stinks being sick in a country where you're traveling alone don't know anyone. I felt anything but alone - in fact, I was downright pampered during this time. Christian checked in with me and the hotel concierge on a regular basis to ensure that I was OK. My tour operator stopped by the hotel to see if I needed anything and the hotel staff showed up at my door bearing wondering gifts of teas, soups, etc. The kindness I experienced from these folks is not something you'd get from am American hotel chain or tour operator. On my next flight into Quito, Christian surprised me at the airport (to make sure I was OK) and invited me out to dinner with his partner the next night. I couldn't make the dinner, but found a delicious bottle of wine waiting for me - which I shared with one of my newfound friends from the trip. BTW, he also managed to rearrange my itinerary so that I got to see everything I missed while I was ill. It didn't lose any money, the tour operators were very accommodating and the pace was such, that I didn't overdue it & backslide health-wise.

Here are a list of tours I took with them (and tour operator):

      Quito:
      Mural tour: Guillermo
      Trip to

      Cuenca:
      City tour: Sebastien

      Bird-Watching Tour: Daniel

We bet you haven't heard this story👇

A woman in the 1940s dedicated herself to sweeping the Nazca lines meter by meter 🤯

Her name, Maria Reiche. A German-born Peruvian who was not only an archaeologist, but also a mathematician and a translator.

She removed the dark gravel that had filled the geoglyphs over the centuries.

The set of geoglyphs occupies an extensive area of approx 1,000 square kilometers in the desert of southern Peru 😶

She used up so many brooms that locals started to think that she was a witch.

To the Germans Maria Reiche is known as the Lady of the Lines.

Thanks to her training in science, she developed the first theory about its possible purpose as an astronomical calendar.

We owe the conservation of this precious and enigmatic ancient legacy, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Have you ever been this high? 😲

Cotopaxi is Ecuador’s second tallest active volcano (5897 m.a.s.l). If you want to visit, we recommend you to do everything you can to avoid altitude sickness.

Everyone reacts differently to altitude. Some don’t feel it at all, and others feel short of breath with the slightest bit of physical effort.

It doesn’t matter if you are the fittest person on the planet or if you never exercise: if you don’t acclimatize properly you will be affected by the lack of oxygen. That’s why we recommend a visit to Cotopaxi after a day or two of being up in the highlands.

I almost passed out once going up the volcano... I pushed myself too much and too fast.

What's the highest altitude you've been?

There’s no doubt that travelling impacts all the places we visit but we believe with small positive changes come substantial positive impacts.

Every day more and more travellers are becoming increasingly aware and conscious of the planet around us so we thought it would be useful to have a quick check and see how we are doing.

Are you a conscious traveller? Let us know in the comments 🧡

To stand 2 meters away from a dinosaur is not something you get to do everyday 🥳

@ryanlittle1 and Laird are having the time of their lives in Galapagos and we were so fortunate to help them plan this special trip.

They went snorkeling to North Seymour (my favourite place to snorkel), to Bartolomé Island (where you have the best view of the main islands) and to the @charlesdarwinfoundation! - and that's just on the islands... They had a great time in the mainland as well.

Tomorrow they will continue their adventure to Peru and we cannot wait to hear their stories.

We want to thank you guys, for your patience and your kindness.

I hope you take tons of great memories from this trip and that you come back soon 🧡

This is definitely one of the best photos from our travellers 😍

Not the most amazing landscape or quality... But it captured a perfect moment between father and son.

These are Ryan and Laird, they're travelling through Ecuador celebrating Ryan's graduation.

They went biking to Cotopaxi Volcano and our guide captured this perfect moment...The two of them talking and you can see them smiling 🧡

Meet the white-faced capuchin monkey (Cebus capucinus), an arboreal primate that lives in the forests of Colombia, Panama and Ecuador 😍

The species is not endangered, but its numbers are declining, due to the threat of deforestation, degradation of its habitat, and hunting for its meat.

Fortunately, there are several research centers in Colombia dedicated to studying the behavior and ecology of capuchins.

You can find this little guy in Tayrona National Natural Park.

Just remember that Tayrona is in a jungle area and coastal, so you must be prepared for any type of situation; a lot of sun or rain, mosquitoes etc… especially the distance and the difficult access from the city to the park.

Is it worth it? Absolutely 🧡
